    Update on Remote Learning

    Remote learning is being extended. Students will be on remote learning until Friday, January 21, 2022. Teachers will send assignments home for them to complete during this time period. Please contact your child’s school if you have any questions about the assignments. Students will return to school on Monday, January 24, 2022. Our sincere apology in advance for any inconvenience to the households.

    School Meals

    School meals will be available for pick up at the schools from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM next week beginning on Tuesday, January 18, 2022.

Mission Statement



The mission of the Lowndes County's Child Nutrition Program is to prepare and serve nutritious, appealing meals to all of the students of Lowndes County in an environment that is safe, clean, and sanitized.  These meals will be served in a positive and cheerful manner by a highly dedicated staff.

Goals of Child Nutrition Program

1. Comply with federal, state, and local requirements.

2.  Be accessible to all students.

3.  Provide breakfast, lunch, and snacks(where applicable) to all students.

4.  Serve food that is fresh and in the best condition.

5.  To treat everyone with dignity and respect at all times.

Community Eligibilty Program

All enrolled students of the Lowndes County Public Schools are eligible to receive a healthy, reimbursable breakfast and lunch at school at no charge. No further action is required of you. Your students will be able to participate in these meal programs without having to pay a fee or submit an application. 

If a la carte items are selected, each student will be required to pay foradditional items at the food prices approved by our district’s board of education.

Our meals meet the new USDA Nutrition Standards, which require the following:

  1. Fat free and 1% milk choices
  2. More whole grains
  3. Larger portions on fruit servings at breakfast and lunch
  4. Larger portions on vegetable servings and specific vegetable types that must be served (dark green, red/orange, beans/peas, etc.)
  5. Less portions of meat
  6. Age appropriate calorie limits
  7. Less sodium
  8. Less saturated fat
